We all know about TinyURL, probably the first service to hit the web to give long URLs the snip, but you may not have heard about this cool little site …

I recently came across a new(er) URL shortening service – http://bit.ly – and one of the coolest features found at bit.ly is you can view the last 15 URLs you have snipped short, and if you click on the info button it will show you how many clicks have been logged.

Another niftly little feature is the ability to customize your bit.ly URL. That’s right, if you want to send someone to … let’s say an … an eBay auction, (why on earth would you want to do that anyway) you could give your URL a special tag like … JUNK20 … your URL would then look like – bit.ly/JUNK20

Pretty cool huh ?
