I’m starting to get a love / hate attitude towards eBay after being active as a seller for the past two months. Sure I’ve bought and sold many items over the years but in the last two months I have been selling as much as I can (one more month to Powerseller, YEAH!), and I have to admit, I now see some of the frustrations of other sellers.
One of those being eBay’s “SP NOTICE” messages.
If you’re not familiar with them, if you get a spam related email or anything that eBay has been sent a report on, you will get a notice as an alert in your message folder. This notice is designed to warn you of the potential danger of replying or doing business with the people sending the spam message (usualy from china, they try and get you to buy their wholesale merchandise)
Here’s my BEEF … not only are the spam messages annoying, because eBay has too many steps involved to report them, but they show up in two places. They show up in my message box and the questions section next to the auction it was sent in from.
If I want to report them here are the steps involved …
Click on the message from my message folder, I see that the message is spam, I scroll down and look for the link in the lower right side of the message window, click on it to report them, select the reason why in the results presented, then click continue, where I then must click the email us link, and then the page I am taken to doesn’t have any option for me to get back to my messages folder, so I either have to repeatedly hit the back button to get back, or go back to my eBay page and enter back into the message folder to report the next idiot.
Now as if that weren’t enough to annoy you … a few hours later you will receive a SP NOTICE from eaby warning you of the spammer – UH HELLO, I JUST REPORTED THE JERK – but the biggest annoyance of all, is eBay won’t allow you to just click on the little check box and hit delete, you have to actualy go into the message in order to delete it, then you’re presented with a box asking if you’re sure you want to delete this messatge.
COME ON EBAY !!!!! do you not think your sellers have better things to do ????
I understand the reason behind the SP NOTICE, but wouldn’t it be safe to say if a person has already reported said spammer, or they have received the message before, they are aware of the dangers already, why then must they add insult to injury when dealing with these creeps.
Sometimes I wonder how often the policy makers at eBay place themselves in the seat of the seller and ask themselves “how will this impact the seller”
At the very least let a seller tick the check box and delete the message without having to read it.
Bottome line … if eBay can’t figure out a way to block these messages, and they want to force me into opening their warnings, then WHY should I take more time to report them, I’m just going to use the check boxes to delete the messages since I get a duplicate in my ISP’s email too.
